As you know by now we are huge street/urban art fans and have followed the phenomenal development of the Urban Nation project.

With more than 150 museums, Berlin is a cultural treasure trove. The most anticipated Berlin museum of the past few years is here!

Before we move to the story of Berlin’s first museum of street and urban art, let us stop for a while, and ponder the idea of a street art museum first. Hamburger Bahnhof is the former train terminal of the Berlin-Hamburg Railway.

Currently, only selected museums, exhibitions and institutes of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin are open to the public.

From a gallery space, to taking over the neighborhood in Schöneberg and the street art world by storm! Streeet Art and Urban Art fans, rejoice! Museum for Contemporary Art (Hamburger Bahnhof) Set in a former train station from 1874 (Located in “no man’s land” between East and West Berlin), this museum is dedicated to contemporary art from the second half of the 20th century onwards. Currently, only selected museums, exhibitions and institutes of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin are open to the public. The Berlin State Museums (German: Staatliche Museen zu Berlin) are a group of institutions in Berlin, Germany, comprising seventeen museums in five clusters, several research institutes, libraries, and supporting facilities.They are overseen by the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation and funded by the German federal government in collaboration with Germany's federal states. The museum is located on the river Spree opposite Berlin cathedral. Located in Moabit, the repurposed space now houses a comprehensive collection of contemporary art as the Museum für Gegenwart, or Museum of the Present.The museum was created after the after Berlin entrepreneur Erich Marx offered his private contemporary art collection to the city.

Visits to any of these venues require a time-slot ticket.

To some, this may look like an ironic turn of events, and rightly so.

Visitors can experience the Boros contemporary art collection in a converted war bunker, explore the rich offering of Berlin’s acclaimed Museum Island (home to no less than five museums) or take in the architecturally acclaimed Jewish Museum.
